January's photo was taken in Inglefield Bredning, which is a fjord in northwest Greenland.



 This area is where a lot of the research on Arctic climate change is occurring, and an area where narwals summer. We saw narwals, but we were never close enough to get good photos of them. A staff member was kind enough to put the below photo in the shared folder.

      What ? This is a Greenland/ Arctic calendar blog. What does either of the above have to do with that ? Those of you who know me may have heard my take on Rachel Maddow. JUNE 2019

       As with most of these unique icebergs, texture and form create the primary interest. The cloud lines in this shot emphasizes the shape.        The first two photos below are another example of sea ice. Instead of a chunk of sea ice,  as we saw in MAY, here the sea water has intruded into the glacial ice and frozen. The blue is sea ice, the rest is glacial ice.      Below are two other photos from the same bay as JUNE. MOBY ICEBERG? Remember this hill. It will show up again later! See you next month! NOVEMBER 2022

CROSSING THE CASCADES - EAST TO WEST  After photographing the Palouse and the Scablands, Rick and I headed west to cross the Cascades heading for the west coast.  On the way we passed through apple country. Even with one's eyes closed, there was no doubt it was apple season. We passed through small towns with shipping warehouses. The smell in the air was totally apple scent! I suppose one might get tired of it after awhile, it was so heavy in the air. But, passing through, it was Delicious, or maybe Honey Crisp :-)) Apple orchards Pick up boxes or bags of apples, and leave your money in the drop box! You may, or may not, have figured out that for a brief moment, December was November. And if you are really a dedicated blog follower, you may, or may not, notice both November and December are posted.  Most of you will never notice. For the rest of us, that is our little secret.
